Are you called, chosen and faithful?

Greetings from Australia!

I had a wonderful time at Maoli Prayer Mountain in September/November and look forward to be there again from 27/12/02 to 1/1/03. There is no better place to usher in the New Year than at the Prayer Mountain. To be there is like putting God first with your time, as you will be ending the year listening to the Word of God and beginning a new year attending a prayer meeting. If you have not booked, do it today so that you can have the best accommodation allocation.

I would like to thank all the brothers and sisters on the East Coast and at Pingtung for the hard work they put into organising the various meetings in October 2002. Without your efforts many would not have heard the good news for the first time or receive the touch of the Holy Spirit.

I often ask myself the question, what does God look for in a Servant of God? I often am on the look out for co-workers to labour together with me in the harvest field, as it is very important that I choose the right people for the job. At first I was looking for talented people but often find that they tend to be rebellious. I then looked for people with leadership qualities but often find that they want to do things their own way. I thought maybe people with Gifts of the Spirit might be most suitable but find that many of them have difficult working together as a team. In most cases what I find is that brothers and sisters tend to start out well but later dropped out because they find the going in ministry too tough. It is true that the needs in ministry tend to be too great and what we can do seems to be just a drop n the ocean, so very often the needs and demands of ministry overwhelm us. So there are certain basic characteristics that brothers and sisters need to have in order to be successful in ministry. I have great desire to train brothers and sisters for ministry but if I do not choose correctly, those that I train will not remain after a few years. Others that remain might bring disrepute to the Kingdom of God if they have serious character flaws.

What does God look for in a Servant of God? Rev 17:14 said that those with Him are called and chosen and faithful. Rev 17 is about the Lord of lords and King of kings making war with the Army of the Antichrist. It is important that only the best in the Army of God will be used against the Army of Satan. Thus those who are in this Army of God are specially chosen. This is emphasised in the verse as those who are not only called but also chosen. These recruits in the Army of God are chosen for one special quality ¡V they are faithful till the end. Do you have this important quality that God looks for? You might think not but it is quality that can be developed and it can grow if we allow it to.

1 Cor 4: 2 ¡¥Moreover it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful¡¦. The word steward means a servant who has been given a trust - a servant who is entrusted with a task to do. You might say you are not a Servant of God but you certainly are a steward in the Kingdom of God. When you are born again you automatically become a steward of Jesus. You are entrusted with the task of bringing the Great Commission to fruition. 1 Cor 4:2 states that a steward needs to be faithful.

Taiwanese tend to measure their success by their personal wealth or influence. Paul said success in God¡¦s eyes is measured by our faithfulness. I agree wholeheartedly with Paul. I would rather have a faithful co-worker than a millionaire co-worker. All of us are charged with the task of letting others know the good news. It may be through personal evangelism or co-working with people like me in bringing this to fruition. Whatever role God puts you in as his steward you need to be faithful. Faithfulness means being focus on the task that God sets you out to do. At times your role might seem unimportant or it might not meet your needs but you need to stick to what you are called and chosen to do. This is what being faithful means. You are seeing that God¡¦s desire in meeting the needs of others is more important to your own needs being met.

It is always a joy to go into a church and see brothers and sisters faithfully performing the tasks that have been allocated to them. Whether you are greeting someone at the door, cleaning the church, arranging the chairs, preparing the meals, singing in the choir, looking after the guest speaker, you are performing a very important role as a steward of God, accomplishing a task that have been entrusted to you. If everyone in the church is not faithful in performing his or her task, the whole meeting will fall apart and the Kingdom of God suffers as a result.

Silas is known in the New Testament as a faithful brother (1Pet 5:12). This is a simple yet profound description of a brother whom the apostles could always count on to be there, no matter what the circumstances. Silas was Paul¡¦s reliable assistant on his missionary journey, someone he could trust. He was a loyal companion, a co-worker and Paul¡¦s right-hand man. I often long to have a brother like Silas to work along side me. Unfortunately there are not many Silases around. Silas stood side-by-side Paul in prison where he was arrested. He was severely beaten and thrown into the inner prison with Paul (Acts 16:24). He remains faithful to Paul in good and bad times. Silas faithfully took on any assignment the Holy Spirit gave him. Silas was dedicated to carrying the gospel to the Gentiles. He faced persecution with Paul and is truly his faithful brother in the Lord. Throughout the letter to the Thessolonians, Paul used the plural pronouns ¡¥we¡¦ and ¡¥our¡¦ to refer to his ministry with Silas. Paul saw Silas as a faithful co-worker.

After Paul¡¦s ministry to the Thessolonians, Silas did not appear again in the historical record in Acts. Yet we find him again, twelve years later, helping Peter when he wrote his first epistle. At that point Peter called Silas his faithful brother (1 Peter 5:12). This is a deserving tribute to a steward of God whose life is dedicated to serving God.

Brother or sister in Christ, you need to be faithful. God has already called and chosen you to be his steward. Now it is your choice. Are you willing to stand side by side other godly men, using your time and talents to help others find and establish themselves in their relationship with God? Are you serving God in a manner whereby others can describe you as a faithful brother or sister? Make this important choice today ¡V choose to be a faithful steward of God.

Greetings in Jesus Precious Name.

How time flies. It is already mid-August as I write this article and September is just round the corner. I am looking forward to the meetings at Prayer Mountain in September as I felt God inspiring me to prepare a series of messages on 'Entering the Promise Land of Canaan'.

There is too much of doom and gloom preaching in Taiwan. Many people are scared  of the Chinese Invasion from the Mainland, others of devastating earthquakes in Tainan and Southern Taiwan. Many are afraid that they might  lose their jobs and businesses. In the midst of doom and gloom what should children of God be doing? Some have decided to plant vegetables in their backyard to prepare themselves for food shortage but I do not believe your small vegetable patch is going to sustain you for very long in a famine or war situation. Others are teaching on martyrdom to prepare brothers and sisters even young children to die for Christ. Most brothers and sisters feel helpless and frustrated believing that their future is doomed. However there is something very important that people forget in these trouble times. God is in control!

Not Mainland China, not even the AntiChrist is capable of taking charge and destroying Taiwan. The Word of God gives us so many examples of God performing great miracles and leading His people into victory at times when gloom and doom prevails. The Isrealites were about to be wiped out by the Egyptians, BUT God stepped in to part the Red Sea and drown the Egyptian Army. The Isrealites were about to die of thirst, BUT God stepped in and healed the waters of Marah and supplied sweet water for the Isrealites to drink. The Isrealites were about to give up after Moses died, BUT God stepped in to give them a new leader to lead them into the Promise Land. God is in the business of stepping in to deliver us from disasters at times when it seems completely hopeless. So do not listen to too much doom and gloom prophesies. Many a time, doom and gloom prophecies are self fulfilling prophecies. When we listen to them too much we tend to lose hope and put it all to fate. 'Hey Sara Sara Whatever Will Be Will Be' Do you remember this popular song that was sung in the sixties? This song is about believing that all events in life is fated - All these prophecies will happen - if enough Christians believe in them - the devil will have the upper hand and these prophecies will become self fulfilling.

I believe in a God of Deliverance - A God of Hope and He often use the most troubled and difficult times to show His power of deliverance and healing. God told Joshua, three times (Joshua 1: 6, 7 and 9) : Be strong and be of good courage! God will deliver you ! I will speak on this more in a message at Prayer Mountain in September so make sure you are attend the meetings if you want to 'Be strong and of good courage'! It is often at times when it seems impossible to do anything and we have thrown our hands up in defeat and despair that God suddenly said 'Arise let us cross over the swollen River Jordan and enter the Promise Land'! Are you at that stage in your life when you want to throw up your hands and give up? If this is so, it might be about the right time God is going to tell you to arise and be prepared to enter the Promise Land! Most of us want miracles to happen in our lives so that situation will change but miracles usually only happen when we step out at times when we do not feel or want to step out. That is the reason why most of us do not experience miracles.

Miracles are not for the faint hearted therefore we need to 'Be strong and of good courage'. God told the Isrealites to cross the River Jordan at a time when the river was deepest and most swollen, overflowing its banks. The Isrealites could say - okay Lord we will but let us wait till the dry season when the River is at its lowest level. If the Isrealites did that no miracle would have happened as there is no need then for God to part the River Jordan if you could just walk across it. So troubles and difficult times in our lives give God the opportunity to perform miracles in our lives! Don't look at troubled times as an opportunity to grow vegetables (I don't particularly like eating vegetables so I won't grow them at any times) and to stock up rice in your house and to prepare yourself for martyrdom (a dead Christian is not much use to the Kingdom of God) but instead see troubled times as opportune times for God to perform miracles in your life and for you to enter the Promise Land! To enter the Promise Land we must cross the River Jordan. Yet some want to enter the Promise Land by crossing the Red Sea. They insist on crossing the Red Sea when God tells them to cross the River Jordan. In fact they have crossed the Red Sea many times. This is very true of people in bondage or have blockages in their lives. They go back again and again to cross the Red Sea instead of crossing the River Jordan.

Crossing the Red Sea and crossing the River Jordan are entirely different events and these expanse of waters are at different places. Make no mistake, we must at least cross the Red Sea once but we must not go back , we must progress by going forward. The Red Sea leads to the wilderness while the River Jordan leads to the Promise Land. This is the reason why so many Christians are never completely free or liberated - they are confused, deceived, not knowing where they are heading. They got lost in the wildereness since they always head back to the wilderness in their attempts to re-cross the Red Sea. Some are so confused that they even cross over to the wrong side of the Red Sea back into Egypt and slavery - to the world, sin and other bondages. Those who had cross the Red Sea must attempt another crossing, this time the River Jordan so that we enter the land God has promised us - Canaan Land! I have already written too much and place a great burden on my interpreter time. May God bless her for her efforts. There is much much more I want to speak on 'Entering the Promise Land' which I believe all Taiwanese need to do - Possessing the Land of Canaan for themselves, for the Kingdom of God, for their future generations.

All these will be revealed if time permits at Prayer Mountain in the September/October Meetings. Looking forward to seeing you there! May the Holy Spirit be with you all.

How often we yearn to get closer to God?
§ÚÌ¬O§_®É±`

We try fasting and prayer, Bible Study, reading books written by famous authors, attending prayer meetings, getting involved with church activities and even humbling ourselves.Back To Top¦V¤W

I have tried all these activities and find that they are good for me but there is still a spiritual void in me that need to be filled. Even though I get busily involved with church activities there is still something lacking which fails to bring me closer to God.Back To Top¦V¤W

In other words, spiritual activities by themselves can fail to bring us closer to God. We believe in spiritual activities so much because we were brought up with the thought that we need to work hard for our rewards. So we try to get closer to God with our works and in many ways these fail miserably. Back To Top¦V¤W

Closeness with God has to do with our personal relationship with God. It is very similar with a marriage relationship, unless we develop a close relationship with God we can never be close to God. A close relationship with God does not depend on how long we study the Bible, how hard we pray or how many hours we fast. Some people can pray and never touch God, others fast and never reach God while yet others can memorize the Bible from cover to cover and never get to know the author. It can be like a husband who is at home all the time but never talk to his wife or children because he is so involved with reading the newspaper or watching TV. You can be so involved with spiritual activities but never touched God.Back To Top¦V¤W

Then ask him to put within you a spiritual hunger for him. Spiritual hunger is a craving for more¡K.in this case it is not for beef noodles or durians¡K.but for more of God. You develop an appetite for more of God¡¦s presence, more of God¡¦s glory, more of God¡¦s love. You see we are so caught up with wanting more of God¡¦s healing and deliverance that we forgot that when we have the healer we have the healing. Without the healer there is no healing, so we should nurture our hunger for God¡¦s presence. Where there is His presence there is His love. Once you experience God¡¦s love you will never be the same again. You will fall in love with Him once you have experienced His love. His love heals hurts, disappointments, misunderstanding, depression, oppression, rejection and even mental and physical illness. It drives out fear, worries, apprehensions and doubt. However His love comes with His presence and His presence through a deep spiritual hunger for Him. Spiritual hunger can be likened to a deep yearning to near to God just like a husband¡¦s yearning to be near his beloved wife. Back To Top¦V¤W

Spiritual hunger is God given. It is a gift from God. You cannot work hard to receive spiritual hunger. Your love for God should come spontaneously not worked up. In a time of revival, God gives spiritual hunger for many so that they would desire for more of God. There are more and more brothers and sisters turning up at Maoli Prayer Mountain for meetings desiring more of God. At many of these meetings when I prayed for those who come up to front, I sense God telling me to lay hands on them and impart to them a deeper hunger for God¡¦s presence. God¡¦s people are in need and are so hungry, it is hard work ministering individually to each person who comes up for prayer especially if they keep coming up third, fourth or fifth time for more prayer.
